Take a look around, how many men do you see having those thick n shining moustaches and moving comfortably with their rough-tough looks....yes, you are very right, there are very few now a days who like to pose themselves with those thick n shining moustaches.
Interestingly its not only those who are in their 20s and starting a relationship but a large chunk of men in their 40s can also be seen lining up for clean shaves, waxing and even going for laser removal of hair on their arms, legs and chest as well.
Believe it or not, men were not always this way. In fact there was a time when these men proudly used to say "Moochien hon to Nathu Laal jaisi...vernaa....".
Did you ever thought, what happened to our old fashioned, stubble, unkempt hair men, who were able to get dressed in two minutes....????
Are our guys tapping more into their feminine sides....????
Is it the organised and aggressive marketing trend, forcing men to go for all those things which were once considered GIRLY....???? or,
Is it that, women themselves wilfully feminised men to make them less masculine, so that these chocolaty looking men can be less challenging to women's ambitions....????
Though women themselves can answer that well, but in my views its not so and I personally feel that "just as men prefer women to retain their femininity, women love for men to take care of themselves but retain masculinity....."
So, how did this pattern shifted from a rusty masculine look to a chocolaty one....????
Well, if you ask me, my idle mind is simply coming to the conclusion that "its only that men are just turning into better looking men" and their is nothing wrong into it as long they are able to retain their masculinity.
BTW according to you, what can be the reason behind this transition of men, from rusty to chocolaty....????

I can give you my reason. When I shaved off my moustache (on an impulse) everybody told me that I looked younger and most also said better. So I retained that look. Last year I did the Movember challenge and realised that they were right - my face looks scary horrible with moustache.
ReplyDeleteyaa, i can understand Sunil, there are certain guys who look much better when they are clean shaved but here we can see a trend of being clean shaved no matter it suits them or not...and yes, you look GOOD in your new look :)
DeleteI guess it is convenience for some guys to clean shave it rather than spend hours trimming it. With or without they all look good!
ReplyDeleteImagine it the other way - girls wanting to grow mustaches! Just the thought gives me shivers!
well, when one can spend hours in waxing etc then why can't he go for trimming...
Deleteand who knows, if carrying moustaches becomes a fashion for Girls...and there are many who follow fashion blindly....Lols...:))
..Well to your question ..the ans would be,,
ReplyDeleteAs men turn more chocolaty the reason is .. minimal facial hair always gives a clean look.. which actually is pleasure to eyes for everyone and not jus females...no one likes bear look :)
in olden days awareness was not there...like Self cleaning and keeping yourself sharp. But now hygiene level is high.. moustache or no moustache but mini mal hair is important.. same is with women ... which helps to keep body odor away.
does that mean, men who carry those bushy moustaches or well trimmed beard never bother about hygiene, well i don't agree with that bcoz there are guys who walk gracefully in every walk of their life without going for clean shave or waxing etc....
DeleteHahaah...I don't know the reason, but I think men looks masculine with a hairy chest rather than a clean shaven one. And that's my opinion though.. Many women like clean shaven ones.Personally I feel a man with bare chest looks like a doberman to me..hehe..let's see what other people got to say :)
ReplyDeletethats what i feel.....you are echoing my thoughts here...:)
DeleteThankfully my husband is still the old-fashioned rusty one! I think men are carried over by the film actors who look 'clean' and suave. Gone are Anil Kapoor and the likes who had thick mousches and carried it off with elan.
ReplyDeleteJoy always,
Susan
yes, i too think that more n more ppl are doing it simply by immitating these filmi actor's.......
DeleteBTW, glad to see you here Susan..thank you :)
Haahaa! Trust me, my ambitions are not challenged by a man's moustache/beard/chest hair:) And Irfan, you have a nice moustache:)I rechecked your profile picture and it looks good on you:) Nice day.
ReplyDeleteI know, I know....and its same for majority of women out there...:))
Deleteoh, really....Thank you so much Kavita ji....now i will take care of them little more..:D
You know, I didn't like men with moustaches, I always felt that such men were weak and not manly, that was the mindset I had for many years, and even now to some extent, maybe, because of being born in south Indian brahmin community, also could be the reason behind this mental block.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I like men with both beard and moustache, a kind of goatee beard of different styles, for example I like Amitabh Bacchan's goatee, and Brad Pitt's also.
Years ago my husband who had the clean shaven look was made to convert his look to have a goatee beard by me, I felt he looked really good with that, and over the years he had never changed. It also looks much nicer in men who are going bald, it takes away the attention from their head, and it also makes them look very scholarly.
Well, see how people's mind change, and there is no good or bad about anything in life, it is just our perception.
Manliness has got nothing to do with the change.
I think you have shaved your moustache, am I correct?
and i can see that beard on him in this pic here....its really looking nice on him.
Deleteyes, manliness has got nothing to do with moustache or without moustache....and just to let you know, I am still carrying my moustache...not even thought of removing them...:))
may be many things.convenience, their women's preference or looking younger..
ReplyDeletemay be....
Deletethank you...:)
as they say, mooch nahin to kooch nahin :D
ReplyDeleteand I love to here that...."Mooch nahin to kooch nahin"....:)
DeleteWell, I can see a lot of mustaches around me. Hubby has a bushy one and is growing it a bit longer so that he can turn them around like Rowdy Rathore! And then we are from the state of Rajasthan where men (especially the Rajputs) take pride in having a nice mustache!! :)
ReplyDeleteyou know, i tried that Rowdy Rathore type mooch once but somehow felt it doesn't suits me so trimmed them but still I carry my moustache with all pride.....:)
DeleteMay be it’s a cause of westernization... were many don’t wear mustaches!
ReplyDeleteNowadays men become a contestant to women in spending time and money for their look.
yaa, thats true it looks like a competition between two when it comes to spend time n money on their looks....
DeleteHa ha Irfan a terrific observation.
ReplyDeleteBut frankly I have no definite answer for this intriguing question :)
Cheers.
and the same is me, even I don't know the exact answer...:)
DeleteI prefer the clean shaven look on my hubby. On others, it does not concern me :). As far as shaving legs, chests and feets, it suits hairy people like Anil Kapoor. For others, it is a personal choice.
ReplyDeleteyes, above all its personal choice but again there has to be some logic behind every thing we do...isn't it...??
Deletethat means there are majority of women/girls who like clean-shaved guys, thats why we see a big achunk of guys going for shaving n waxing...well i don't think so.....
ReplyDeleteIt is all in the eyes of the beholder, but advertising by the FMCG industry has played a big part. Hair or lack of it has nothing to do with masculinity, I feel.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right, aggressive advertising is really working as catalyst here...and yes masculinity is never effected by such things....Thank you.
DeleteYOu need to see my pic Irfaan, I have a better mooch nathu lal for sure and rowdy rathore.. .
ReplyDeleteand currently i am growing them again, for sure .. we have Movember last month no one shaved for 4 weeks , it was for charity and I have a good healthy growth..
will put a pic some day for sure :) I like men with A mooch, its a sign of a MAN.. he he he he
Bikram's
can very well imagine Bikram....a punjabi jawaan like you with his moochien....even Nathu lal and Rowdy Rathore fails for a moment.....:)
DeleteMovember challenge really sounds interesting....will love to see that pic....:))
Thanks for stopping by......:))
ReplyDeleteThere was a time I had huge bushy ones and my colleagues addressed me as "Thakur".
ReplyDeleteThen one day,scissors took over
thats what made me to write this post Chowla Sir, bcoz there are certain people(i knew personally) who used to keep thick n shining moustaches but over the period of time they removed.....
Deleteand you look good even without that "Thakur" look Sir :)
Unusual topic, Irfan! But you have got a nice mustache! My husband and one son have got mustache and it looks nice on them!
ReplyDeleteMay be the girls prefer men without hair nowadays and the parlours promote them to make money!
Sandhya ji, I am nt sure about the 1st one but your second reason does apeals to me...i too think that agressive marketting strategy is the main reason behind new looks....
Deleteand thanks for the kind words :)
first of all Nice topic....
ReplyDeletenow according to me masculinity is nothing to do with such things....manliness is not measured by whether you hv mustache or not...
and second some men look good with mustache and yeah some men look more younger without it...
but personally i don't like mustache and mostly beard....even i hate those little goatee one...and more hated the little central portion beard under area of lower lips... i don't know why...but clean shaven look make men more attractive.....
when men expected clean waxed look from women...then why not women demand for clean shave look from them too...
I m not against mustache or busy look but this is my personal choice...men can be look good with mustache or beard or even with both...but its like i don't find them attractive unless he is well known to me...and his behavior or others personality traits attract me...
yes, even i agree that masculinity has got nothing to do with all this...and yes its the man as a whole that makes difference, no matter he carrys a moustache or not....
DeleteBTW glad to have you Hema after so long....how are you doing...:)
Saying is "mooch nahi tay kooch nahi." Meaning - no mustaches , no - nothing.
ReplyDeleteSo it's a source of self esteem. Though, it's normal, yet when the males exceed limits and go for facial, it's way too much and disgusting because manhood is lost.
BTW: On my wedding day, I was offered the facial service and a trip to the parlor but I declined the suggestion/offer/facility.
Currently, Fashion industry is booming, and every doolah bhai loves to look like a bollywood hero and ends up in the beauty parlor for facial and stuff - give me a break guys!!!
Irfan Bhai, actually, there is a paradimn shift perhaps due to the over-commercialisation to generat money which is on the mind of every individual. Because no Eaash without cash. The Business world is making money by hooks or by crooks.
Just money and money!!!
i too feel Tariq bhai, that aggressive marketing and commercialization has an impact on our day to day life....moreover there is nothing wrong if someone wants to look good with ongoing fashion as long as it suits to his personality....
DeleteWell, it's all about preference. I can't go without a mustache though, I feel comfortable with it :-)
ReplyDeleteand you look good with your mustache....:)
Deletethank you.
Cant really agree with you on that here cos in this part of the country, you will hardly see guys with this kind of looks…
ReplyDeleteNiways, at the end of the day, what matters is if you are comfortable with ur looks and if you are not sending any wrong signals to others…
indeed, its all about individuals choice......
DeleteI hate body hair. I like my man hair-free.
ReplyDeleteIt just looks neat.
+To Me It Matters+
hehe...i can understand :)
DeleteBTW, welcome here at my space..glad to have you here..looking forward to see you again....thank you.
may be.....:))
ReplyDeleteI wish I could answer that, but I don't know what chocolaty means in the first place :P
