Our priorities and their outcome....

There is a common saying........"Change is the law of nature"
And rightly so......Because every thing within us and around us changes with time...with age...and with circumstances.

And so does our priorities.....Yes, our priorities also changes at different stages of our life, for example, when I was a kid , my priority was to have fun with anything or anyone around me. After few years when I raised a little in terms of age(being a five feet giant male, I still need to raise a little in terms of height), I started thinking about my studies and future career....And the moment these thoughts started coming into my idle mind, my priorities started changing and then the priority was to complete my studies with whatever resources I had and have a respectful life.... Once I completed my studies and got settled, my priorities again started changing and  were like getting married, having kids and get them admitted into descent schools....

And now, when things are somewhat smoothly settled into my personal n professional life, I have a feeling that once again my priorities are changing and this time my responsibilities are becoming my priorities......Yes, my personal responsibility like looking after my old aging mother(unfortunately I lost my dear father few years back and I can't even think of losing her), fulfilling the needs of my wife n kids and ensuring an environment for kids which can help them to become a good human being and in turn give them a respectful life too(INSHA ALLAH).... Apart from these personal responsibilities there are certain social responsibilities also which has to be given priority at times, because I personally feel that it is our social responsibility that keeps us bonded-together within the society.

Buttttttt sometimes I do feel that in the process of fulfilling these responsibilities I miss certain things which might have given some more amount of satisfaction to me on personal level...for example, recently one of my blogger friend and a popular blogger Alpana Jaiswal came to Patna and she was kind enough to inform me about her arrival. The moment I came to know about her Patna visit, I was excited to meet a blogger in person and had a plan to spend some nice time with our families together. I did visited her place for very short amount of time to meet her and was really nice meeting her with her daughter and mother. But unfortunately, the very next day of that short meet I had to leave Patna to attend some social get-together at my native village(again a social responsibility turned into priority). And somehow I am still not able to meet her again....Sorry Alpana ji, hopefully we will meet again at some other place if not at Patna(INSHA ALLAH).

Perhaps this is what our life is, that sometimes we are just not able to do what  actually we want to....

Is it because of our pre-defined priorities...???.....OR just  co-incidence...???

  1. Aww Ifanuddin its okay ..part of the life as you quoted Change is law of Nature...But yes you are right there comes this nasty phase in your life when you find yourself all stuck in things that are your responsibilities and not your passion or priority or your small little wishes...You do want to get back to the care free time span of your life..THE GOLDEN PHASE..so they rightly call it the best part of Life..
I wish you find some time for your ignored priorities and cute little wishes:-)

  2. well...sometimes i think over the purpose of life..like we go to schools colleges and have degrees and jobs and money and kids and then retire and die...and in the whole process we forget that life is for living....so if your personal responsibilities become your priorities i think you are lucky because in the end what matters is having a decent happy life with your family and you are lucky to be able to serve your mother at her old age because only few people get this opportunity... and meeting a blogger in real life would be awesome i think..i never met anyone even though i would like if some blogger from lahore invite me for a dinner or lunch :P

  3. U r so right...change is the law...priorities do change...but again in my opinion priorities should be defined by you and not by others...only then you are able to accept changes...if it is forced one then there is always the scare of a revolution..and it might not be that nice :) :)

  5. @SuKupedia : Agree with you, our priorities must be decided by ourselves, not by others but sometimes situations force us to change those priorities and one can't do anything, Thank you.

  6. It is true what you say, priorities change .. along with time and the way life works out to be .. personal scenarios changing etc etc.

Well I am sure your friend will understand what all was going through that day ..

You take care and good to hear that things on personal life are all settling down , Catch up with you later sometimes and talk soon

  7. I believe change is the only constant thing in life.. to an extent changes are good while to some extent they are bad..
Instead of feeling sorry that you were able to meet your friend just for a small duration of time.. you should feel happy that at least you met..!!!

  8. Yes I agree with what Madhulika says, at least you could meet her even for a brief time.
just last Saturday a blogger friend of mine came to Bangalore and she called me as promised and said she will definitely on a particular day. I even told her not to bother as where she was staying was quite far from where we stay. But she insisted that since, she had already planned, in US itself that visiting me was in her agenda, that she will come. So, here I was waiting for her that whole day, not getting any call also from, nor could I call because didn't have hers. The next 2 days also I waited for her to call or come, but nothing happened. Then she calls up after 3 days and says she was held up in Hassan, and that she had not carried the number etc. Then again she promised saying this time it is "Pakka" that somehow she will come to my place, and unfortunately this time too I forgot to take her number. And again that day too I was waiting for her, no call also from her. Then I emailed her asking her what happened, she said she was very sorry, that since she was with her mother, it was her her responsibilty to take her to all the temples and relatives house she wanted, and that she could get back on time.
I was upset not that she did not come, but was quite fed of her not having any commitment towards friends, the least she could have done is call me and tell me that due to certain reasons she won't be making it to our place , but she kept quiet.
Then I think of her circumstances and have just forget about the whole episode.
I think one should also know where ones priority lies and not go about promising people something which they might not be in a position to keep.
    Sorry for the long comment.

  9. Irfan Ji, priorities, responsibilities, personal ambitions is what all comprise life and sometimes when something takes a higher priority for social obligations, we do feel a pinch in the heart. The good thing is you met and got to know each other better, no matter if it was only for a short duration. It's the gesture that matters :)

It's a pleasure to read you, am glad you blogged.

  13. irfanji I think I second the opinion many ppl put forth here. It's not like you could go but didn't, you just couldn't do anything about that. And moreover as many ppl said you did meet her and I think I think that just shows meeting her was indeed a priority that day.

    Cheers!

  14. Atleast we got a chance to meet Irfan, that is important..At times people live in the same city and yet don't make an effort to meet. With time...life teaches u a lot,and with circumstances, our priorities change..don't let it bother you..just move on with the flow.

  15. Priorities change and so do commitments. As long as you inform the person and don't make anyone wait, it is fine. These things happen.

  16. After so long, I have a chance to go through your brand new piece of art.

As there are numerous things for you to deal with almost on daily basis, and for the sake of time management you have to prioritize/or re-prioritize your actions accordingly.

Time is running, the things and circumstances around you keep changing. That's why it is said, "nothing is constant but change."

While accomodating the needed priority, you could not have a chance for a secong meet-up with your blogger friend. At least, be grateful to Allah who made the meeting possible for you guys at first.

  17. I agree with you change is the only constant and I would say it is because of your priority.. Hmm irfan good post man..:-)

  18. How true. Priorities always change depending upon ones circumstances.
My take is--what ever changes take place are a clear msg from God for shape of things to come.

  19. So true about priorities and many a time we are in need, desire and love to bring change into prior… and sometime it happens and if we see it as significant, everything needs prior but still there is something beyond to check.

Glad u could meet one of a blogger and hope u get chance to meet her again to spend more time. Nice post !

  22. i think its very sweet of you to make time to meet her even though the duration was short. maybe someone else in your place would've avoided the meeting also. who knows? so its a nice gesture you've shown

  23. I fully agree with you Irfan ! Again this calls for a debate or discussion on destiny vs free will . The latter perhaps has more to do with priorities or vice versa.Even in changing priorities, you care for your aged Mom - that's the best part !

    ReplyDelete
  24. u are right....priorities change and nothing happens as planned..and ur last question.......aarkay said it right its destiny vs free will
guess it depends on what we believe in:)

  37. So true, with time our priorities and interests change. very well written.

    ReplyDelete
  38. You are right. Priorities are defined by us and at each stage in our lives they are different. Priorities are therefore highly subjective and sometimes can cause hurt to friends when they feel that we do not prioritize them high enough on our list! But then that is what life is all about isn't it? Managing conflicting priorities!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Priorities shift and we have to live by those priorities. I am sure that in future both of you will get a chance to meet again.

    ReplyDelete
  40. well...that's life with all it's pro's and cons...priorities do keep changing...but it's not bad to break the priorities and follow you heart sometimes...:)

    nice read :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Of course it can't be coincidence. Change is life is the biggest and most potent truth, and no matter what happens, change is always there. Priorities are set, life is planned, and we do a lot of thinking to set a course, but then, one must always make room for 'sudden plans' like this one, where u met ur blogger friend, because its these sudden and unplanned moments that add spice to life and make us happy.
    :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. yeah your right in saying that. I think most of us face that situation. :(

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hi Irfan,

I do think that priorities change with age, circumstances and situations...but ..even when you don't get to do what you prioritized due to some reason ..it is possible to derive happiness and satisfaction from them....For e.g..at some time, may be your priority is to do some urgent office task...but..when you see your kids struggling with their home work..you leave your own task for sometime and engage with yourselves in the home work. I am sure...that gives you more satisfaction than the office task..So..I think..the key is not to be rigid...but trying to find a balance between your priority tasks and try to derive some happiness out of it.. :)

you are my senior in age..so off course..you have much experience of life.. :)

    Good Luck
