Let's stop blame game and do our part...

(image from google)

As we all know India turns an year older so its Independence day today and as usual people are singing Patriotic songs, tweeting Patriotic tweets and no to mention hoisting national flag......And it feels good to see how much we love our Independence that we got after so much of hardship and sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters.

No need to say that we all love our country but over the period of time I have a feeling that ours is not an easy country to love, where even death has become a sort of business, since the doctor signing the death certificate, the police Wallas and not to mention the morgue, they all want some amount of donation from the family of deceased to expedite the whole thing.

Actually the system in which we all live is so horrible that it always ensures to remind us that we live in India where politicians are a joke and people responsible for law n order are simply barbaric n inhuman. So there is lot that is not right and can be better with India....

We don't have regular things like electricity or good roads and even good leadership to lead us.... In fact these things are almost non-existent and we always complain about it, actually we leave no chance to curse n abuse our authorities for those shortcomings.....

But, what have WE done...???
Yes, WE.....
What have we done for India as an Indian...???
Frankly speaking I did nothing apart from cursing our leaders n authorities.... :(
And YOU...???

For example, when it comes for cleanliness of our cities we simply blame the municipal authorities and even I agree that they are not doing enough, but what we are doing from our part to keep our city clean....NOTHING.... Rather, the garbage coming out from our houses is simply thrown on road sides and we don't even bother to put it into the dustbins kept by the municipal authorities...... Likewise there are many more such acts that we do and we should not and must not.

It is easy to blame the Govt n authorities and compare ourselves with other countries, how they are doing better....But while doing so, do we ever think what are we doing from our part to make India a country like others are..???

We must not forget that India have a long way to go, but is it going to get there by constant bitching and moaning...??? NO..... Change is needed, and this change will have to come from our part by changing our attitude towards our duties for nation building, as we have our attitude regarding our democratic rights.

So, let's do our part and when we say "Mera Bhaarat Mahaan", we must think of what we can do to make "Bhaarat Mahaan" in true senses.... We all admire our love for India and its tri-colour on Independence Day but the important thing is that we must try to retain this love for all 365 days.

Come, lets celebrate India's Independence day with great enthusiasm by hoisting flag and saluting it, but make sure that there would be no flag lying unattended tomorrow on road.

  4. Irfan, your article is an eye opener.
You are right! "the real independence is still a dream yet to come true."
And, that is in the positive change in the system of governance, people's attitude and effort. I mean the greed part has to be defused and replaced by "live and let live" in a way that is definitely something - that the nation really deserves to enjoy first and foremost as a condition precedent.
A very happy "independence day" from the core of my heart!

  7. Your write-up is like a mirror and it reflects the stain of self offenders. Yes, we need to change a lot before looking for a change... I hope we need more education concern on self discipline and moral values.

Lets celebrate the Independence Day keeping a thought on deeds we need to improve on our country.

  9. Totally agree.
Apart form doing our own part, we need to question when systems fail. Question the authorities in a form of letter, phone call, or a letter to the newspapers. Collect people and go and meet the administrators.
When a number of people question, they also relent and take up remedial measures. It may take time, but we can do it, instead of saying" no one cares".,

    1. yes, I agree that we must question the authorities, be it in the form of letters or whatever but once we start doing our part we will be having more authority n confidence while questioning the authorities...thats how i feel....:)

  11. An action demanding post, nice one.

There are many unsung heroes and heroines who are investing their life in putting our country on top of the world. Like you said the more the people it would be better.

yes, i think rather than cribbing, crying and comparing our country with others, it would be nice to be the change that we want to see.

BTW, i always find it difficult to open your blog, it opens but it hangs and says "Kill pages" or wait. Does it happen with others.

  16. totally agree with.. be the change you want to see...theory...nowadays even if the drain in the house is clogged people are used to blame the government.. before even realising that they themselves must have blocked it...I hope each one of us do what you have said in your post.. a very inspiring post...:)

  17. Yeah Irfan the mantra for Independence day should be what you said - "So, let's do our part and when we say "Mera Bhaarat Mahaan", we must think of what we can do to make "Bharat Mahaan"!

    Thank you! Best wishes.

  18. Doing best from our side is the most honest and straight forward way to work something good for our country. However this practice is going to be much more effective when all of us follow this...

    Nice post Irfan Sir... :)

  19. I could feel strong emotions with what you wrote here about your country and the meaning of Independence Day. Such love!

I think the redirection of point of views could help so much. We do need to work both ways and meeting halfway is an easier solution than just using our mouth to blaming...It is not futile and voices could be heard but wouldn't it be better to hear more motivation than saying 'What have you done?'

The work towards having a great nation is dynamic and that important date we share in our calendars to celebrate Independence Day is a great reminder to keep on moving forward towards the betterment of our country.

    I pray with you...

    1. well, while saying here "What have you done?", all i mean is to introspect ourselves so that if we havn't done anything remarkable yet, then we must start thinking of doing something now for our Nation.....

Thanks a lot for this insightful comment Melissa...and thanks for the wishes too...:)

  20. Irfanuddin,

I fully agree with you. This reminds me of what Gandhiji is supposed to have said - If you wish to change something first bring the change within self. There have been thousands of persons at rallies organised but how many of them would actually do what they are shouting slogans for? Most of them would pay a sum to policeman to avoid traffic challan, look the other way if some crime is being committed against a woman, if vote it would be not as per merits of candidate but his or her other criteria like caste, religion & region etc. So it is we who are to be blamed for the situation we speak against. I agree with you that first let us start doing what we wish to see others doing.

    Take care
