We often find people complaining about the usage of Mobile Phones and Computers, that these things are making our generation poor in spelling and grammar, and even people say that Mobile Phones and PCs are ruining their social life and making them to live in a virtual world.
But on the other hand i personally feel that the Social networking sites....Blogs...e-mail and instant messaging are making it easy for us to reach for our friends and dear ones... in this age when no one has got enough time for others, thanks to these modern technologies that all sort of relationships are kept alive. whether its Romantic, Family or Friendship.
Sometimes it does seems that standard of spelling and grammar is falling apart, even then it feels good to see that people are communicating with each other and putting their views without any hesitancy with whatever language proficiency they got.
If you go back and think about those days when the most effective means of communication was letter writing.... and the letter arriving weeks after they were written, resulting in a long stretch of communication gap. But in any relation communication gap is something never desired.
It does irritates when you are pouring your heart out to someone and they get disturbed by their beeping phone...... Undoubtedly there has to be a balance of their usage , there are moments when we should just leave our phones and PCs for an uninterrupted human interaction.
I personally like and encourage the discipline and etiquette of the use of phone and computers but again the benefits of these are much more than the annoyances.
A very relevant post Irfanji,,I think both have their own advantages and drawbacks.
ReplyDeletehmmm...I agree with Tomz....
ReplyDeleteThese new advancements have both faces...good and bad...its upto us now what face we choose to admire and use...
Good Post !
@Tomz: thanx for the visit dear.
ReplyDelete@Thinking: yaa they have both sides good n bad.... but if we use properly then we can have more good out of them.
ReplyDeletethanks a lot.
I know one think that excess of everything is bad weather its tv , mobile or pc:D
ReplyDelete@geeta singh: yaa..thats very true.
ReplyDeleteIrfan Bhai , I agree. To me benefits of these tech devices outweigh the disadvantages. I feel so happy when I get a text message or email or facebook message that is personal rather than just a usual forwarded joke/email.
ReplyDelete@irfan bhai- i knw d language v use is kinda diff. as d matter of fact m usin it nw bt d way of xpressin feelings ve increased nw. imagine a girl ritin a luv lettr back in 70's wit a smily of a "kiss".... ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Irfan! Just to let you know I was here. Not quite sure which side I like better - but overall I like staying connected...
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts! Keep it coming?
By the way, is the fan on? :)
@AH: thanx a lot for coming over here again
ReplyDelete@Divyansh: you are right, these "emoticons" or smileys have really added a a very nice thing into it which help us to show our emotions just in a click and the same was quite difficult decades back.
@NRIGirl: thanx for stopping bye.... and yaa she is quite kind these days on me, may be after reading those she is feeling about my pitiable situation ;)
ReplyDeleteI feel that this Advancement are making easy to reach our friends and relatives and keep our relationship alive. But new advancements have both faces advantages and disadvantages. But excess of anything is bad.
ReplyDeleteTrue......atleast ppl r learning to communicate. The best part of it is that we are able to get quicker response than that of earlier days.
ReplyDeleteSpelling and grammar mistakes will fade with regular reading/writing.
E.mails/comments never irritated anyone as phones do. I am thankful to this new technique of communication.
@Imam Sahib: agree that they have both +ve n -ve ..... but again if disadvantages are much less than the advantages than we must rule out the disadvantages.... thnx for visit sir.
ReplyDelete@STRANGER: Thank you sir, in fact you have summarized the whole thing, i wanted to make out here.
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt that these devices are misused. Anywhere and everywhere, this has become something of a nuisance. The telephone itself was good enough, but now it became mobile. But it has made us immobile.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young I had to walk five kilometers to give a message to my uncle, becuae there was no telephone. No one walks these days !
And on top of this, all those health hazards.
@antony sir: i agree with all ur points here sir, but when it comes in terms of communication with our relatives n friends then we just ignore all these perhaps.... more over if we use it in a disciplined way than things may improve a lot i think.
ReplyDeleteBTW having you here at my space is really something great for me..... i am really honored, and thanks for the follow sir, i am elated.
yeah as everyone pointed out, technology has both sides, perhaps nothing like these would have ever been possible if we were continuing to write letters. so, it is fully upto us on how we can reduce the disadvantages and make the full use of it .
ReplyDeletehttp://vj-menon.blogspot.com/
Irfan, the mobile phone is a major intrusion into people's pesonal space and moments. But I am all for BLOGS- can you imagine how else people like you and me would have got our thoughts together and shared it with others.. Do you think the newspapers and magazines would have had time for Aam Janta like us? FB again is lovely - has helped people connect. But sure, nothing beats receiving a letter written in one's own handwriting.....in one's own language!
ReplyDelete@vijay Menon: yaa with proper usage of these we can very well over come some of their disadvantages....
ReplyDelete@meerasrajan:
undoubtedly Mobile is necessary evil these days....
BLOGs... this is something great for all those who want to share their thoughts n experiences with others that too without annoying others...
No doubt hand written letters have their own flavor, butt in present era no one has that much time n patience to write a letter n wait for a fortnight or so for its reply to come... so again these modern things have upper hand.
I agree with you Irfan ji , I'm genuinely thankful to technology that has made my life a lot easier. I prefer writing mails to my loved ones instead of disturbing them by phone calls.
ReplyDeleteEvery thing has two sides..Social networking lets you connect with not just old friends but also make new ones and total strangers..gives you a platform to express.on the other hand people use it so much that they forget personally meeting their pals more often ...
ReplyDeletevery rightly pointed out... if not through all these blogs and SNS, it would have been very difficult to stay in touch....
ReplyDelete@ZEAL: of course its different after getting all these user friendly things.
ReplyDelete@Harshad: thats true.... thanx Harshad.
@Tanishka: yaa they have made things much easy for us...
Nice post!
ReplyDeleteAll the materials are good to have when in moderation, the problem occurs only when used in excess, like they say 'Even nectar in excess is poison'
@Asha: yes... it depends a lot on how we use the thing..... thnk you.
ReplyDeleteHi there, looks like you have got yourself a neat little award.
ReplyDeleteCheck it out: http://thediaryofaliar.blogspot.com/
@A Gr8 Liar: Shukriya janaab...i am feeling honored Mannnn :)
ReplyDeleteI am all for technological advances and for more forums for people to share opinions. Yet, I would say that it would be nice to write well too. SMSes are fine but letters and blogs can be written with correct grammar and punctuation and also in one's mother tongue or any language that one is comfortable in. Any thing taken to the extremes is bad including spending too much time with these interfaces :).
ReplyDeleteTechnology is bound to overtake the old.
ReplyDelete@Rachna: as far as correct grammar n punctuation is concerned... i think the main issue is presentation and if one is justifying his presentation then a little bit of those mistakes can be taken for granted... and of course proper use of gadgets is must.
ReplyDelete@Chowla sir: yaa.. it has to.
I get MAD when i am talking and someone's phone comes and they get busy , I make it a point not to discuss personal stuff with them anymore ..
ReplyDeleteyes fones , computers are a necessity these days but human values are still above, if someone comes to talk to me I make it a point to stop all i am doing and giving time to them ..
but then thats me :)
Bikram's
@Bikramji:
ReplyDeleteagree that sometimes human values does left behind bcoz of these technology aided things...
wish every body do the same like you. :)
Ya, you are right that atleast people are communicating. Technology has bridged geographical and physical distances but yes, we should be following the etiquette.
ReplyDeleteHi Irfanuddin, I saw you on NRIGIRLS friendship tree and wanted to stop by to say hello. I've enjoyed my visit and its been lovely to meet you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for an interesting post, I was always sceptical as to whether or not friendships could be made via blogging etc and am pleased to have met so many wonderful people. Best wishes PW I'm the hedgehog on the tree).
@....Petty Witter: Thanx for stooping by here... am happy u enjoyed the visit , hope to see u more often here.
ReplyDeleteyaa.. Blogging do enable us to meet so many nice people and give us opportunity to go through so many wonderful write ups....
...nice post..I personally believe everything is good if used in moderate quantity..
ReplyDeletelife is easy and comfortable by these technologies...and making people literate too ..by using different search engines and awareness against ...all kinda issues!
yes they have flaws too!
like the spams...porn sites...and even getting personal information from net!
Dating blindly through net..getting involved for no reason...its different sides of the same coin !
@Harman: agree with you...these technologies are indeed very helpful if used properly.... thanx for visit.
ReplyDeleteIrfan ji, Nice post. I think these things are just tools to use anyway you like. If you have a hammer, you make sure you don't set it on the edge of a surface where it might fall on your feet. Similarly, you set your phone to silent when you go into an important meeting. Technology can only give us the tools, it's up to us to develop the discipline to use them well.
ReplyDeleteI know people who use perfect language and punctuation in email and chat, and I also know people who are too casual in official communication. It's up to the person.
But look how many people write the blogs these days. If blogs didn't exist, do you think the same people will write their thoughts on paper and get them published by traditional methods? I don't think so. So clearly technology helps us explore ourselves and our universe more.
But then I am biased, love technology. :)
Very well you pointed out the things here.Technologies are good but we must know it's limit to use , if it's over used it becomes disadvantage!
ReplyDeleteNice as always :)
Keep Smiling :)
Now a days there is too much fuss that technology is not good but I agree with you. It has far too many advantages over disadvantages.
ReplyDeleteGreat Article. Technology has its own advantages.
ReplyDeleteI agre wit h you... Its up to us how we use things and and give them control us... :)
ReplyDelete@Sunil: yaa... undoubtedly it helps us to explore ourselves and our universe more.... thanx dear.
ReplyDelete@Simran: am happy you liked it...thanx.
@Talha : Thank you for sparing time here.
@Asama : Thanx Asma.
ReplyDelete@Asma Khan: welcome here.... hope to see you more often...... thanx a lot :)
@hhmmmm, whatever may be the disadvantages n hazards, i prefer to be with these gadgets simply to be connected with my friends n relative at the same time i do take care that i don't irritate any one around me.
ReplyDelete@sunidhi: yaa, we must take care of other's comfort while using these...thanx sunidhi.
