Girl in a rainy night......

It was about 9:30 in the night and was raining heavily, standing at the road side i was waiting for a taxi. After few moments i saw a girl of about 22 years coming out there, perhaps she was also looking for a taxi and in the process was unsuccessfully trying to protect herself from the rain.... in the mean time a boy of about the same age group of that of her, also came there.

I observed that the boy while standing there was staring and smiling at the girl, and perhaps he was trying his best to make that girl feel comfortable there. In the mean time all three of us were trying to stop the taxis n autos passing by there, but in-vain.

During the process we asked each other about our destinations and started talking in a friendly atmosphere. In the mean time a taxi came and girl boarded into it and after knowing that the boy also has to go to the same locality where she had to go, she asked him to share the same taxi as no other taxi was available and looking at the situation the boy obliged her gladly by getting into the taxi. As i had to go to the other direction so waited there for another ten minutes till i got one taxi and reached my destination.

Next morning when i narrated the whole story to some of my friends at the work place they almost unanimously said that, for sure the girl would have been a prostitute, so she took the boy with her in the same taxi..... I could not say them any thing but was thinking "why these people can't take it as a good human gesture by that girl....?

Because somehow with my observation there, i strongly believe that she can't be of that type, what my wise friends were claiming her to be.

  1. In the end It really does not matter if she was or not!! It was two people sharing a taxi... the storyline people give it says more about them then either of the two people

  6. Hmmmm Irfan... it's such a short encounter that one couldn't actually pass any judgment nor make any reasonable conclusions... What makes your post interesting is your friends' way of thinking. It could go miles away...

But I liked the kind gesture shown by the girl on boy aboard the taxi. I'm not sure how it is in your culture... but with us, I'm not sure if someone would actually allow anybody else in that taxi ride. It rarely happens here...:)

For me that gesture is an act of charity :)

  7. Utter crap. This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard...if a girl shares a taxi and she become prostitute. Sorry Irfan, you need to change your friend.

You are welcome to delete my comment but I state my mind.

  8. It shows the mucky, stinking mentality of these jokers. It is because of such people at your place of work, that women get a bad name.
There are more than known good human beings in the world. Only stinkers are wearing blinkers.

  9. hello

this post is very simple yet very deep. unfortunately, this is the most common impression of helpful and friendly girls. its very easy to spoil any girl's name, its a cakewalk in our society

  11. Really? In this time and age such narrow minded people still exist! And they call themselves educated??? I am glad none of your FRIENDS were there waiting for a taxi with her. Maybe the girl's fate would have been different then!

  12. duh! how can sharing taxi make her a prostitute? I completely agree with other comments especially the one by A

  14. hello frnds....
i do agree with all of you here that they were wrong n they should not have said so, and thats why i just posted the whole episode here so that i can share that up to which extent people can think dirty....

@ A... i agree with what you said but there are certain things which are difficult to change like ur work place n the ppl working there with you, bcoz everyone is there to do his job,the only thing one can do is make some distances from such ppl.....and regarding deleting a comment, why should i...?? when ever something is posted by anyone it doesn't mean that whatever comments will be coming, they all will be of writers choice n likings....i never mind someone criticizing me or the content posted over here.... so you are always welcome here to state ur mind.....its much appreciated !!!

  15. Terrible. How can your friends talk like that. It is disgusting. You really need to stay away from such negative folks.

  16. MEN mentality.. here in UK its quiet common to share a Taxi..

You shud give them a piece of your mind, they are your friends and I am sure they will listen to you, public perception needs to change ..

and I dont agree with changing friends SORRY.. dont agree with that.. what you shoud do is Talk to you friends and give ur perspective... and change theirs...

I am sure they will understand what you have to say ... all the best

  18. @Irfan,

Completely agree about not being able to change but as you said, one can maintain distance.

In my personal non work related life, I only mingle with people who are clean. I am sure it is the same for you.

  19. @ A....
not to mention that every one has that option when it comes to personal life and no one ever prefer to mingle with those ppl, but as i mentioned in my post, it all happened at the work place, so........

moreover if they happened to be my personal frnds i would have tried my best to make them think other wise, as Bikram said , being frnd its also our duty to tell the right things to each other(am happy to see you doing here:) ).... but at work place that too at our place(i remember you had been here earlier, so can understand well), its always better to avoid any argument with such ppl...
    hope you get my point.....

  20. Irfan,
I honestly do not know if what the girl did was right. Travelling with a stranger whom she had just met at the roadside is a risk she had taken. But that doesnt make her good or bad and no onehas the right to make such somments without knowing the girl.
But then, what did you think when the girl left with the boy? Why did you have to tell the story to your friends?

  21. it seems tat all ur friends have watched "ek chalis ke last local" have u watched it? nice movie though....

this is how things are now Bhai....perceptions have changed a lot...cant blame people for all of it.....however like u, i also believe the girl was genuine and really wanted to help that guy..hopefully

  22. @ dr.antony....
you rightly pointed out sir,and let me tell you, for me it was a human gesture by her, in fact it was a casual chat of the previous days rain n the situation after that, bcoz here at our place there is water logging every where n it becomes difficult to get back to your place, and in the process that story came out...thats it.....

  23. so typical of pple to think this way..
I wonder why dont we just leave others alone instead of judging them...I hate this most about my society..they just rush towards conclusions without knowing the full story

  24. This was like a mystery story .. but I can completely imagine people saying what they did. People expect a certain stereotyped behaviour from others. Certain stereotype for certain genders. Girls are expected not to talk to strangers leave alone give them a lift. Since this girl did something different she got labelled!

  25. I really don't know what to comment on this post. The best thing is to wash away the stainful memory in the pleasurable rainy season:)

  26. I can't believe all of them thought of her to be a prostitute... That thought did not even cross my mind.... Going by what you say I'm 100 per cent sure she must be a very nice gal...
