"Vulgar Laughter Shows"

While watching a famous Laughter show on TV, I was thinking of my student life period, when Indian humour was best known by its "Kavi Sammalens", traditional gathering where noted Poets waxed eloquent about Social and Political issues......But things have changed now, may be because of the fact that the Politicians being corrupt is no longer a funny thing, but its pain full.....

Today Indian comedy shows are a charade, they have banal and vulgar jokes, too much impersonation and plagiarism, the semi nudes sexy looking anchors...and top on all, the Judges of the show, who laugh so hard, it seems forced.... Most claim to be funnier than they are....

It all happened may be because the audience for the humor has changed . In fact we are so advanced now that one can call a woman "sexy", without insulting her feelings.Where as earlier "sensuous" would be the correct word.

In fact the realty is, we are now in an era where Rakhi Sawant and Dolly Bindra is being ranked as icons...where our youth just gets crazy while listening "Bheege Honth Tere" and "Shiela Ki Jawani"..where every thing is valued on its TRP.....

Why can't we have a "Laughter Show" with......
Humor that makes you think?
Humor that provokes society to evolve?

  8. The less said about the comedy shows, the better. Todays shows are in very bad taste and the judges laugh as if they have consumed local 'Bhang"!Puran Singh is horrible.

Its all so interconnected I guess its the attitude of Chalta hai, we can put it in every fieeld of life.. politics, television etc no one seems to be bothered ..

  25. Hey Irfan I agree with you....Today actually we adopted so Vulgarity in our life...And the media who can change the people are responsible for this....We always heard about rape case ,And killing, Murder case lot have you find the news regarding our progress or miletry progress or else our politician also become vulgar everywhere behind the name of love publicity all are serving vulgarity to the market and our children who are the future of our country learn this what can be next thinking on that I am afraid about........

Anyway your blog may reach those people and they can understand the situation and help to grow country in meaningful way........

  26. Evry word written by you so true. Laughter shows started of well a fewyears back. Now, with similar shows on a number of channels and the compitition, those are gettinh vulgur by the day.
Such shows must be taken off the air immly

    ReplyDelete
  27. Agree with you Irfaan - laughter like in Gulzars Angoor or the original Golmaal or that TV serial of eighties nukkad needs creativity and wit. When you have neither you fall back to slapstick and vulgarity. You don't have to work very hard for it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Absolutely agree with you. Only yesterday I was thinking about how I just dont relate to the language these days. Even on TV channels the hindi that I hear is not the hindi that we used to hear when I was growing up. No, I am not a purist but I think the standards are going down. Remember those Hrishikesh Mukherjee films and their humour? These days I dont find any so called funny film funny...!!! Look at Gulzar - the man who wrote "Mera Kuchh Saaman" and "Tum Aa gaye ho noor aa gaya hai" is now penning "Bidi jalaile" and "Kajarare"...!!!

  29. i panic to see the laughter shows now but loved to watch DEKH BHAI DEKH, don't find one of a similar kind. the pattern to increase their TRP rate has changed a lot. i wonder how they get their rates increase by low category jokes. who are these viewers?

  30. @Harshal.... Lets hope that sense prevail n things improve...thank you.

@Chowla Sir.... its not likely that these prog can go off the air in near future, just bcoz of wasted interests of the authorities. Thank you sir for coming over here again.

@Varsha.... very right..these sort of prog can be made without taking too much of pain... BTW nice to see you here after a long gap...plz do come again, Thanx.

  31. @Meera Sundararajan.... i think Gulzar saheb is writing "Bidi jalaile" etc not bcoz he is fond of them, but more bcoz audience's taste has gone down, and he is certainly not there for social service... Thanks a lot, glad to see you here again.

@fantacy in practicality.... certainly there are viewers who has devleoped the taste of these, but i think all these TRPs are manipulated.... thank you sancheeta ji for being so regular here.

  35. Hello Irfan Ji,

I agree with you, the vulgarity in our TV shows is on the rise. This has direct bearing on tender mind of our children who are most of the time occupied with TV shows. If this trend is continued we are definitely heading towards cultural devastation.

Hey Fatwa ppl, Shivsena, Bajrangdal, RSS,......what are you doing........watching TV......get up Idiots.

Sorry, if I have been too harsh......I hope they will also read.

  39. I miss the intelligent witty humour of Ashok Chakradhar and the 'Char Laina's' of Surendar Sharma. Those Kavi Sammellans were unparallelled. And you did not even need Navjot Siddhu to drive home the humour by their unnecessary laughter- at times even before the jokes are over :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Harman.... thanks for the visit.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Gautam.... right, people like Ashok Chakrdha, Surendra Sharma and others were just best with their humor n Satire.....and 'Sidhu'... GURU just don't mention him...i mean how can a normal man laugh like that....

BTW welcome at my space and thanks for the follow, i am honored...plz do come again... :)
